A Summary Safety Review (SSR) follows after a potential safety issue with a drug or health product has been identified.

These summaries accompany other safety related information to help you make informed decisions about your medication choices.

Each summary outlines:

  • what was assessed
  • what was found
  • what action was taken, if any

It’s important to know that a drug may not have a Summary Safety Review written about it. This doesn’t mean that there are no safety concerns or risks with using it, as all health products carry risks. Safety risks for a health product can be read about in its prescribing information.
